Pre-Conference Events

NAFA offers I&E attendees the opportunity to get a jump start on their education through pre-conference events. These workshop-style events offer a deep-dive into fleet’s hot-topics.

SPECIAL ADD-ON PROGRAMMING!

For 2025, attendees will be able to participate in one of three pre-conference events:

  • Maintenance Management Certificate Program
  • Sustainable Fleet Management Certificate Program*
  • Driving Safety with Behavioral Science: Building a Proactive Fleet Culture*

*Course is worth 4 CAFM Recertification Points

PRE-CONFERENCE 1:

Maintenance Management Certificate Program

Vehicle maintenance directly impacts productivity, driver satisfaction, corporate image, safety, environmental compliance, and the financial bottom line. This course will enhance understanding of, and ability to communicate essential maintenance principles to in-house or outsourced maintenance personnel, drivers, and management. Topics will include Vehicle Maintenance, Shop Operation, Environmental Issues, Inventory Management, Performance Monitoring, Outsourcing, and Maintenance Staffing.

Course includes:

  • Maintenance Management Digital Guidebook and Study Guide (sent starting April 1, 2025).
  • Online Exam: First sitting is included. Additional sittings may be purchased if needed.
  • Certificate will be awarded to all participants who pass the online exam by April 27, 2026.

PRE-CONFERENCE 2: 

Sustainable Fleet Management Certificate Program*

Things change quickly in the field of fleet sustainability, and everyone seems to have a different opinion about what you should do. Gain the tools and methodologies fleet managers need to create sustainable plans, to acquire sustainable fleet assets, and to implement eco-driving and change management practices that help fleets reach their organization’s sustainability goals. This course will explore Building a Sustainable Fleet Program, Acquiring a Sustainable Fleet, Driver Training, Fleet Metrics, Fuel Tracking, Sustainable Leadership and Change Management.

Course includes:

  • Sustainable Fleet Management Digital Manual and Study Guide (sent starting April 1, 2025).

PRE-CONFERENCE 3:

Driving Safety with Behavioral Science: Building a Proactive Fleet Culture*

Tailored to help fleet management professionals build a proactive safety culture driven by behavioral science, attendees will discover how to implement behavioral methods to improve safety performance, lower incident rates, and enhance overall fleet safety culture. This is an interactive session where participants will explore how supervisors and leaders can effectively promote safety as a core organizational value by directly influencing employee behaviors.

  • The workshop will focus on behavioral techniques that identify, encourage, and sustain safe practices across all levels of fleet operations.
  • Participants will learn how to assess safety-related behaviors, implement reinforcement strategies to promote positive actions, and reduce at-risk behaviors among drivers and staff.
  • Through real-world case studies, hands-on group activities, and strategic discussions, participants will walk away with actionable steps to foster lasting behavior change and cultivate a safety-first mindset within their organizations.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to describe what a safety culture is and identify key elements of a safety culture ; will be able to list where breakdowns in safety culture occur and how to overcome them; will be able to describe basic behavioral principles that can be used to impact safety culture ; and will be able to list various actions a supervisor and leader can engage in to build participation and support in a positive safety culture .
